The exchange program is for middle school students between 15 to 18 years of age. Students participating in the project visit the United States with an Exchange Visitor visa (J1), living with an American family while attending classes at a local middle school for one year. During the period, students will experience and adapt to the American culture and social life. the program will cultivate their ability of independent living and social interaction. What is more valuable is that they can be fully prepared for long-term study and life in the United States after completing the program. Loving host families in the United States will talke care of the exchange students and see them as their own children. They will not only take care of the students , but they will also discipline the students the same standard they would to their children. Exchange Students in the United States do not receive special treatment because of their exchange identities. The teachers are also as rigorous in teaching exchange students as they would to American students.
After more than 50 years of development, the exchange program has been well-established and is protected by the federal law of the United States (Fulbright-Hayes Act). EVI’s practice is in accordance with the U.S. law and provides safe and reliable homestays, quality high school resources as well as medical and accidental injury insurance for students. At the same time, EVI will regularly work with the students themselves, their attending schools and host families to provide full-time counseling and supervision.
